Since starting to study in Trinity College Dublin, I have wanted to photograph the beautiful architecture and historic structures within the college. What was holding me back from running outside and taking a few snaps was the question of how. How should I capture the scene, in such a way that it stands out from the thousands of other pictures that tourists take of the college each year?
The answer came to me as I was participating in a photography class organised by the DUPA (Dublin University Photography Association), in which we were covering the topic of black and white photography. I reasoned that capturing the architectural shapes and patterns in black and white would help to increase the contrast and make the features pop out, therefore drawing the viewer in.
At the moment this project is still relatively small, but I hope to add to it over the coming months.
